Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God,
and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom
of heaven on earth. God does nothing but in answer to prayer. — John Wesley

9.

St. Teresa of Avila once said, "You pay God a compliment by asking great things of Him." Here are some
principles for petitionary prayer (waht we ask God for...)
1. It is not complicated. It is simple.
Matthew 7:7-ff- Knock, seek, ask.
2. It can be repeated; daily if necessary.
3. It should be offered
in total honesty.
4. Petitionary prayer must not be the only prayers we ask. This is only one aspect of
our prayer time.
5. We may petition the Lord in terms that show our true passion- what fuels us- our dreams, our
fears, our desires. Over time, what moves the heart of God will move our hearts, too.
The Great Gibbsboro Prayer Experiment
“The
Privilege of Prayer!”
Prayer moves the hand that moves the world. If
our prayers will occasion the movement of mountains, we should be all the more attentive to our praying. Prayer has the potential
to impact world evangelization, Christian unity, and our own spiritual growth.
Here is our action plan for this week. . 1-10, rate your prayer week this week ________. What must be done to move
that number up one digit?
REMEMBER: ACTS: Adoration; Confession; Thanksgiving;
Supplication- each component for five minutes= 20 minutes with the Lord.
REMEMBER
Four C’s: Calling; Commanding; Confiding; Communing, spend 5 minutes each.
“Our Lord Jesus Christ is most fully committed to the answer of prayer. “Whatever you shall ask in my
name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” How well assured the answer to prayer is, when that
answer is to glorify God the Father! And how eager Jesus Christ is to glorify his Father in heaven! So eager is he to answer
prayer which always and everywhere brings glory to the Father, that no prayer offered in his name is denied or overlooked
by him. Says our Lord Jesus Christ again, giving fresh assurance to our faith, “If you ask anything in my name, I will
do it.” So says he once more, “Ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.” --E. M. Bounds
Why are we shy about what we ask of the Lord?
Does false piety thwart our prayers?
Does
inattention to the enormous privilege of prayer cost us grace?
Pray
whenever, however, whatever, why-ever, and forever.
